This happens because the body is prioritizing blood flow to vital organs. Families may want extra blankets, but warming the person too aggressively is usually unnecessary. Nurses pay attention to whether the person seems comfortable rather than focusing only on temperature changes. Cool skin can be one of the visible signs that the body is conserving energy and moving through the final stage of its natural process.
