10) Falling Blood Pressure
Hospice nurses often track blood pressure trends, but they do not focus on the number alone. A gradual drop can reflect weakening circulation and less effort from the heart. The person may feel dizzy, weak, or too tired to sit upright for long. Nurses interpret blood pressure changes alongside other signs, such as alertness, skin temperature, and breathing patterns. In hospice care, the goal is not to normalize every reading but to understand what the body is doing and to keep the person comfortable. Falling blood pressure is one more indicator that the body is slowing its systems down.
