Shiba Inus are clever, self-contained, and famously selective about what they tolerate. They often dislike forced affection, repetitive handling, or situations where they feel trapped. Under stress, a Shiba may react with a snap instead of trying to please or cooperate. Their catlike personality can be appealing, but it also means they need respect and patience. Shibas generally respond best to positive reinforcement and clear boundaries, not heavy-handed control. If their signals are ignored, they can become more defensive over time, especially in busy households or chaotic environments.
